Melco does fire stopping on commercial and industrial projects across the Charleston market. Pipes, conduit, cable, and ductwork passing through fire-rated walls and floors get sealed with UL tested systems, so the rating holds at every opening, whether it is a new build or an existing building.
Fire-rated caulk (firecaulking) closes the smaller joints and gaps that a full penetration system doesn't cover. It goes in with the rest of the fire stopping, so there is nothing left open when the inspector walks the site.
Spray-applied fireproofing, sometimes called fire spray, is the coating applied to structural steel beams and columns so the frame of the building holds up longer in a fire. It is a different job from sealing penetrations and is often needed on the same project, so Melco can cover both.
